All notable changes to the Docflow Chrome extension. Versions follow the extension’s manifest.json.
0.4.0 — 2026-10-08
Added
- Inspect UI Context. Select a rendered page element, container or main page content while recording, review its documentation-focused structure, and add optional business context.
- AI Generate Detail. Generate, preview, edit and explicitly apply detailed step documentation using the existing OpenAI settings. Captured UI context is stored with the step for later regeneration.
- Sensitive form values and irrelevant page data are excluded from inspection context; inspection selections do not trigger page actions or add recording steps.
0.3.0 — 2026-10-08
Added
- Workflow details. An optional text box in the side panel before you record, and on the editor’s Overview & details page afterwards. Describe expected steps, business rules, prerequisites and anything that happens outside the browser. It is saved with the workflow and never exported.
- Document sections. Optional Before you begin, Important notes, Expected result and Troubleshooting sections, included in every export format when filled in.
- AI writing with your own OpenAI key (optional).
- AI settings: API key, model ID (default
gpt-5-mini), Test connection and Clear API key. The key is kept in memory and forgotten when Chrome closes, unless you choose to remember it on this device. - Generate with AI: asks up to five optional questions about missing information, then writes a complete draft for you to review before applying. Recorded steps keep their screenshots and annotations; steps taken from your workflow details are added without screenshots and labelled as such.
- AI next to the overview, important notes, step titles and step descriptions: Generate, Improve writing, Make shorter or Make more detailed, with a preview and Apply, Regenerate or Cancel.
- Data is sent directly from the extension to OpenAI only when you click one of these actions. Screenshots are sent only if you select them, with your blur applied. “Preview what is sent” shows the exact content.
- AI settings: API key, model ID (default
Changed
- The editor’s first page is now Overview & details.
Docflow still works fully without AI. Workflows recorded in earlier versions open and export unchanged.
